There are now a wide assortment of Omega-3 supplements on the market due to the increased acknowledgment of their many associated health benefits, but we feel that it takes the highest quality formulas to generate such benefits. Thus, we will take a closer look at Extreme Omega™ to determine if this supplement appears capable of living up to its advertised benefits.

According to the company website, this product is said to contain the following ingredients: Omega-3 Fish Oil (Anchovy, Sardine), EPA, DHA, Gelatin, Glycerin, Water, Natural Lemon Oil and Mixed Natural Tocopherols (as preservative).
The company claims that the contained Natural Lemon Oil may help mitigate any “fishy” taste that may occur due to the contained Fish Oil.

Many people may be aware of the health benefits that are said to come with Omega-3 supplementation. This fatty acid is classified as “essential” because the human body cannot produce this substance on its own and must find it from dietary sources. Omega-3s are said to be significantly beneficial for the heart, brain and joints and may even help ward off diseases and chronic pains. EPA and DHA are only available from fish oil and cannot be found in vegetarian sources of Omega-3s. These two fatty acids are said to be especially beneficial and are considered some of the most powerful fatty acids. We feel, however, that to gain maximum health benefits, people must find a supplement that contains at least 700mg of each of these ingredients, but, unfortunately, this Natrol® supplement does not offer such a high dose of these two Omega-3s.
The manufacturer does note that during the manufacturing of this supplement they take care to remove any heavy metals, such as mercury, and other environmental toxins from the Fish Oil. This removal process is said to include a molecular distillation that is designed to purify the fatty acids. We’re sure many consumers will appreciate this added effort by the manufacturer since high mercury doses may be very detrimental for health.

While we appreciate that each of these descriptions are accompanied by a complete ingredient list, we still feel that the site could be further enhanced if more information was added. Currently, the website does not have any cited research or consumer reviews to indicate that these products have been tested for safety and effectiveness. We have found that many of the best products on the market have a wide assortment of testimonials displayed online, and we’re always curious as to why a company would not share their success stories with interested customers, unless, of course, they have few positive stories to share.
