Country Life® Ultra Concentrated contains Omega-3, 6 and 9 Fatty Acids, and while Omega-3 and 6 Fatty Acids are essential, Omega-9 is not. The term “essential” simply means that the body cannot make it on its own, so it must extract it from our diet. Omega-3 Fatty Acids are found in deep water fish, such as tuna, cod and salmon, which may be why in the past Cod Liver Oil was promoted as a being a healthful tonic. In fact, some experts estimate that as much as 95-99% of the US population is lacking in this essential fatty acid.

This is actually a serious issue because, according to scientists, individuals who have low levels of Omega-3s may be opening the door to a host of illnesses, including high blood pressure, arthritis, allergies, auto-immune problems, depression, diabetes, digestive disorders, osteoporosis and coronary heart disease. Luckily, supplementation with Omega-3 Fatty Acids has been shown to help ease and slow down their development.

Omega-9 Fatty Acids are monounsaturated fats, which are also often referred to as Oleic Acid. It is not an essential fatty acid because our bodies can make it on their own. Country Life® Ultra Concentrated may offer Omega-3, 6 and 9 Fatty Acids, and many of believe they are all equally as effective in easing inflammation and helping enhance overall health, especially cardiovascular and joint health. However, this is not really the case. While Omega-3 Fatty Acids have been shown in clinical studies to be a great way to address health issues and act as a preventive agent, high levels of Omega-6 Fatty Acids may negatively impact health.

Additionally, this formula contains very low dosages of EPA and DHA, the two most effective Omega-3 Fatty Acids found in Fish Oil, which may reduce this product’s overall performance. In fact, we usually suggest seeking out developers that offer products that contain the highest levels of EPA and DHA. Norwegian Fish Oil has been shown to contain the highest and most potent amounts of Omega-3 Fatty Acids. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this grade of Fish Oil is used in Country Life® Ultra Concentrated.
